Peru 2

Ok, so Peru 2!
I would be lying if I told you I woke up that morning in Hauncayo so excited to get to the villages. I woke up that morning early...3 a.m. early. After not being able to fall asleep until well after midnight (for a good reason, late night talk with Yui!) I woke up at 3 with a horrible headache and the worst nausea ever! After viewing my favorite dinner for a second time and in a very unpleasant way I think I finally fell asleep around 5 and was then pushed (literally) awake by my room mate saying we were late...and by late we had 5 minutes to clean our room, dress/shower, pack up, and head down stairs to pack the car.

After suffering through the freshest (not lying, they were walking the fruit in as I ordered) fruit salad EVER, throwing down some Excedrin and Dramamine (not sure if that's the best combination) we loaded up and headed on our last 1 hour leg of the trip to San Jose de Quero...

...or so we thought. Every detour, stop, hindrance, and barrier stood between us and the 1 p.m. dental clinic we were holding in SJQ. But it made for some beautiful picture grabbing. Let me show you some reasons why I love it so much.

I mean really, please tell me that's not beautiful!

We drove until we got to a road block that was going to be there until noon. So we took the time to explore a little! Here are the ladies in the group on our stop! I am so thankful to have spent this time with these ladies!

Yui and Vanessa. Vanessa was a lady we met at our stop. She informed us of some of the practices, history, and stories of the village we were in. It was neat to hear and spend some time with!

Before we left Bren made sure she spent some time explaining the gift Jesus gave us and that an eternity with out Father is her's if she chooses. I don't know what Vanessa's decision was that day but I pray for her!

Finally in SJQ, we swallowed a quick lunch (and by quick, I mean I ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and didn't taste it...it's a big deal for me to eat peanut butter and I did!) and headed to set up the dental clinic. Our 1 p.m. dental clinic started in normal Latino fashion at a very punctual, 3 p.m. Yeah baby! =)

My job for the dental clinic, sterilization and tray prep.

An afternoon on the roof of the hostel!

Oh man! I so wish I didn't have to spend $1400 to see this view! Although it is worth it!

I feel about this *holds fingers VERY close together in a pinch* big when I stand there and see how big He is.

I got to spend some time with this guy. He is the grandson of the lady who owns the hostel. His mom is a year younger than I am and she was more than happy to hand him over any time my hands were free. I spent more time holding him than not and it was NOT uncommon for his mom or grandmother not to be present! I didn't mind! He was a sweetie that I wish I could see again!

My job! Oh yea!
Some of God's handiwork!

Another reason I love Peru!

I posted about these ladies here. I am so thankful God had us all together! SO thankful! Yui is one of my dear friends and I attribute a lot to the trip! Bren stood in as my family! She called me su hija and I didn't mind, especially when I got sick! Yuck! It was nice to have someone there that cared!
Our Bible study in Santa Rosa!
Preparing for baptism. It was about 45 degrees and raining. Bit chilly for an outdoor baptism!

I am not sure she will ever forget her baptism!

This is the mom of the little boy in the previous pictures!

Freezing at baptism!Like I said, he was in my arms most of the time!

Trying to get up a wet in hill in the rain! Let's just say it didn't happen...not then anyway!
Juan Diego's dedication! Another way cool moment I got to witness!
Me, Juan Diego, and Sandra!
Me and Juan Diego!
Believe it or not, that was a highlight only version! I guess you could say the whole thing was a highlight! I did try to condense it!
