Conversations at the Pump

I was taking my guy home last week and as I pulled out of my neighborhood the lovely red light in my dashboard lights up informing me that my gas level is apparently very low. Taking a slight detour me and my guy pull into the gas station.

As I go through the process like I have many times before I remember that I have an 17 month old in the back seat that doesn't fully understand why I get to play outside of my seat and he doesn't. I open my gas door and play a silent game of peek a boo with the monkey inside. I continue the process of filling my tank completely ignorant of the car that pulls in on the other side of the pump. As I am finishing my transaction the booger in the back starts acting up. In my attempts to halt his protests I start talking to him through the open door as my tank finishes its business.

The gas cuts off and I wrap things up noticing that a head keeps popping from the side of the pump. Trying not to act a little disturbed I finish what I am doing. Finally he speaks. He steps out from the other side and chuckles a little as he tries to tell me why he kept peeping.

In the process of quieting what I thought were noisy protests from my back seat this man from the other side never heard my guy and instead thought it was coming from the pump. After discounting that theory his thoughts turn to me...his exact words were, "I was thinking, wow, the people here are friendly" Then he notes that he sees my guy in the back and after a few comments we were on our way.

I pull out and look back to see this guy is from Penn.

On my way home I replay the conversation with the monkey in my head recalling several things some of which were...

"hey buddy!"

"I see your shoes, so handsome!"

Needless to say, I turned a shade of red unknown to the human kind and venture to the gas station quieter these days!

You have to wonder if you are ever the topic of conversation at a dinner table one night! I bet that guys a some stories to tell! Who know, maybe because of it Penn. has one less resident now!

Nephew Style - YOLOMondays Link Up

This week has included LOTS of hang out time with these babies (and an especially large kick from baby bro still in the womb)!
With thier impending move back East we have been in nephew'ville central helping with a super short house hunting trip. "Short" meaning, it wasn't enough time, not that it really wasn't any time.
This dear little ole blog of mine is in transition (in case you haven't noticed)! I am trying my best to get things up and running as soon as possible!

Happy Monday!
